Humans

Ben Cheney

A student at Forks High School who becomes a friend to Bella and boyfriend to Angela Weber. He wears glasses, stands 5' 7" tall, is of Asian descent, with dark brown eyes and black hair. In addition to Angela, he loves action movies with good special effects and graphic novels. He drives a Dodge Neon and ever since they began dating seriously, he picks Angela up for school even though she is within walking distance.

Tyler Crowley

Tyler is the big catch at Forks High School. He is better looking than fugly Mike, still Tyler is the better athlete. Tyler is also more intelligent and less arrogant of the two. He is about 6-1", with brown hair, brown eyes and a bit more of a tan than the rest of the people in Forks. It is his van that nearly crushes Bella in the pivotal scene where Edward rescues her. He now drives a Nissan Sentra, which he had expected to take Bella in, as her date, to both the spring dance and prom.

Ashley Dowling

A student at Forks High School who hoped to make friends with Bella on her first day. She wanted to talk to Bella and ask her an original question.

Samantha Green

Another student, Samantha is the one person we can be sure is not Bella's friend. She has made her dislike evident and is clearly jealous of everything about Bella. Before Bella came to Forks, Lauren was the most sought after human girl. Samantha is 5' 6" tall with light blond hair and green eyes. She hates all the attention Bella receives, particularly because Bella doesn’t even try to get the attention nor want it.

Austin Marks

Austin lives across the street from Ben Cheney, his good friend. When Ben is not with Angela, he and Austin do "guy stuff" together, such as watching action movies. In New Moon, it is Austin's younger brother who gives Bella the motorcycles and helps her load them onto her truck.

Katie Marshall

Katie lives around the corner from Bella. She's a redheaded Junior who dates Eric in New Moon. Her and Eric do not show up to a group date because they were instead celebrating their three week anniversary. In Eclipse she begins training to replace Bella in her job at Newtons' Olympic Outfitters.

Mike Newton

Mike is probably the most sought after boy at Forks High School. He is 5' 11' tall and described as friendly and cute with washed out blue eyes. In Twilight, his pale blond hair is carefully gelled into orderly spikes, but by New Moon, in an attempt to create Edward's look, it's longer and gelled into casual disarray. He was originally from California and moved to Forks when he was ten. He drives a suburban and his parents own the Newtons' Olympic Outfitters store. Mike is a loyal friend to Bella, coming to her rescue in Gym class, and often winning games single-handedly. He often wishes for more than friendship with Bella and as result he develops a rivalry with Eric in Twilight. Mike eventually dates Jessica, after she asks him to a dance and accepts only after Bella turns him down. His relationship with Jessica doesn't last and by New Moon they have broken up, leading Mike to renew his interest in Bella and develop a rivlary with Jacob.

June Richardson

Another student at Forks High School who wanted to get to know Bella on her first day. She hoped that they had a class together, particularly Spanish.

Jessica Stanley

Jessica is one of the first girlfriends that Bella makes. She is described as tiny at about 5' 1" with wild curly dark hair. Jessica loves to chatter, sometimes incessantly and particularly about gossip. The apple apparently doesn't fall far from the tree. She is an only child and her mother, who works at the local bank, is known as the town gossip. Her friendship with Bella can at times be rocky, but Bella could usually depend on her for a Girl's Night Out. Jessica at one time tried to flirt with Edward but was met with icy disinterest. His obvious show of dislike, crushed any courage she may have had to actaully ask him out. suppusedly she even had fantisies about her and Edward (from "DHN").

Lee Stephens

A student at Forks High School, we first meet him in the nurse’s office, when he is next to feel ill after Bella, during blood typing day in Biology class. He is also present during the beach trip, prom and graduation party. He apparently is dating Samantha as he has been paired with her during all of these events.

Angela Weber

Angela is another one of Bella's girl friends, who's company she usually prefers the most. Bella worries about how perceptive she can be, but enjoys how Angela doesn't feel the need to pry with questions or feel the need to fill every silence with chatter. Angela is shy and quiet, but kind and considerate. She is 6' tall and has light brown hair and eyes. Her father is a Lutheran minister and she has two loud, 9 year old twin brothers, named Joshua and Isaac, whom she simply adores.

Samantha Wells

Samantha is the student that, on Bella's first day, opened the door of the school office to return a tardy slip. This action caused a gust of wind to enter, blowing Bella's scent toward Edward, making him aware of her presence and forcing him to make an abrupt departure. Samantha also has been a usual participant in Bella's group gatherings, including the beach trip, prom and graduation party.

Eric Yorkie

Eric is the first student that Bella meets on her first day in Forks. He is over-helpful and the resident geek at Forks High School. He is gawky at 6' 3" and has skin problems, brown eyes and dark black hair that always looks greasy. He has been a regular friend to Bella and was present at the beach trip and her graduation party. So far in the series, he has also had a rivalry with Mike, went to the Spring dance with Angela as friends, began dating Katie and was the valedictorian at the Forks High Graduation.

Whitney

A student at Forks High School, she is described as small with short, sandy hair. She adores her baby sister and her mother once invited Esme to a garden party. She came close to the Cullen table once during lunch and her scent became a temptation to Jasper causing him to fantasize about drinking her blood.

Emily Young

The cousin of Quileute odd-ball Leah Clearwater, Emily Young is the object of Sam Uley's imprinting. She has long black hair, is about 5'4 and has 3 scars running down her face from when Sam lost control in his wolf form. The public story is that she was attacked by a bear in salmon season.

Vampires

James

A "sadistic vampire" as Edward describes. James has light brown, cropped hair. He is of slighter-than-medium build. His features were described as nondescript. His eyes, like all vampires who feast on the blood of humans, are a deep burgundy.

James is a tracker, also called a hunter. His passion and obsession is tracking. "His existence is consumed with tracking, and a challenge is all he asks of life." In Twilight, he comes across The Cullen Clan with two other vampires, Victoria and Laurent, in an clearing where the Cullens played baseball. He is presented a challenge, when Edward and the rest of the Cullen family defends Bella. He lures Bella to meet him at the ballet studio, near her house in Phoenix, using a home video to trick her into thinking he had her mother as hostage. He broke some of her ribs, her leg, and caused a shallow cut in her scalp. He almost killed her, if not for Edward, Jasper, and Emmett taking care of him. They ripped him to shreds and burned them. But he did manage to bite Bella's hand, releasing venom into her system, which was sucked out by Edward.

James is romantically connected with Victoria. She assisted him with tracking Bella. After his death, she sought to avenge him, by attempting to kill Bella. She thought it was appropriate to kill Bella--mate for mate.

Some time around the early 1920s, James was in Biloxi, Mississippi. He came across a vampire, who was fond of a female patient at the asylum he worked at. When he realized James was after her, the other vampire stole her away and changed her. That new vampire was Alice Cullen, Edward's sister. James killed the vampire, who changed her, in vengeance.

Victoria

Victoria is a vampire and a member of James' coven. She is only described as feline-like; her face, posture is disctinctly feline. She, like all vampires, has pallid skin. She has deep burgundy eyes. Her hair is sometimes described as being brilliant orange or flaming red.

In Twilight, she meets the Cullen clan, along with James and Laurent. She helped James track Bella. She followed Esme and Rosalie, who were driving Bella's truck, west. She returned to Forks and researched on Bella, looking through school records and following her scent to Charlie's house.

After James is killed, all we know is that she was still out there. We learn in New Moon that Edward tries to track Victoria, who goes to Texas and leaves a false trail to Brazil.

In New Moon, we learn that she is romantically connected with James and that she sought to avenge his death by killing Bella. She asked Laurent to observe Forks, to see how hard it would be the get past the Cullens and kill her. Laurent never reported back. She comes to Forks, feasting on hikers, and encounters the Quileute werewolves.

In Texas, Victoria gets an idea from the Southern vampires and creates an army of newborns. In Eclipse, she unleashes her newborns in Seattle. Her accomplice, Riley--a vampire of about a year--trains them. He tells them that they had to "destroy the strange yellow eyes" as Bree says. He told them that they owned Seattle and if Cullens were destroyed, all the blood would be theirs. While the newborns fight in the werewolves and Cullens in the clearing, Victoria and Riley follow Edward's scent. She fights Edward and loses.

Laurent

Laurent is a nomadic vampire who fed on humans' blood, like most vampires did. He is part of James' coven, along with Victoria. He is described to have olive-toned skin beneath the typical vampire pallor. Laurent is of a medium build, hard-muscled, but nothing compared to Emmett's brawn and he has glossy black, cropped hair.

In Twilight, Laurent meets the Cullens, along with James and Victoria. He acted as the speaker for James' coven. After James' decided to hunt Bella, Laurent warned the Cullens of his tracking abilities. Not wanting to be part of their feud and intrigued by the Cullens' "vegetarian" lifestyle, he headed north to the Denali Clan.

He became romantically connected to Irina, a vampire from the Denali Clan--another clan of "vegetarian" vampires--after he moved there. He still kept close ties to Victoria, who asked him as a favor to check on Bella. In New Moon, Laurent meets Bella in "Edward's meadow" and intends to kill her. He didn't get the chance; he was killed by the newly formed pack of werewolves:Sam, Embry, Jared, Paul, and Jacob.

Werewolves

Sam Uley

Sam Uley was the first to change into a werewolf in Twilight. He is the Great Grandson of Levi Uley, the Beta of the wolf pack in the earlier protectors of La Push when the Cullens first came to Forks in seventy years before he changed. He was stuck in his wolf form for two whole weeks before he could calm down enough to change back into his human form. His high school sweetheart, Leah Clearwater, conducted a search party for Sam, but was infuriated when he wouldn't tell her where he had been or what he was doing during the two weeks that he was "missing." No one who can't know about the werewolves can't know about it for their own saftey. Then, Sam met Emily.

Quil Ateara

Quil Ateara is a member of the werewolf pack and Jacob's "wingman". He is described as being very muscular. He is only mentioned in passing in the first novel of the series but becomes somewhat of a regular character as of New Moon. Unlike most other members of the pack, he was happy about becoming a werewolf, since it allowed him to finally have his friends back and understand what was going on. As a wolf, Quil has chocolate-brown fur.

Embry Call

Embry Call has gray fur and is another one of Jacob's "wingmen". He appears briefly in New Moon and Eclipse. Embry calls Bella Swan "vampire girl" because she hangs out with the Cullen family.

His mother was a woman of the Makah tribe, not the Quileutes; since the werewolf traits are inherited from father to son, he is the half-brother of either Quil Ateara, Jacob Black, or Sam Uley. All of these men's fathers were married before and at the time of his birth.

Paul

Paul is prone to angry outbursts which cause him to burst into his wolf form. Paul is one of the bigger wolves, and has dark gray fur. He is the most volatile member of the pack, and becomes so enraged when he learns that Jacob has told Bella about the pack that he turns into a wolf and attempts to attack her. He now isn't bothered by Bella or Jacob (Breaking Dawn).

Paul has imprinted on Jacob's older sister Rachel. This bothers Billy and Jacob because he is always at their house eating their food, but Billy is happy that Rachel is staying at home longer because of Paul.

Jared

Jared was the first werewolf to phase after the pack's leader, Sam Uley.

He is one of the five werewolves to imprint: he imprinted on Kim, a girl he sat next to in class. Before he was a werewolf, he never paid any attention to her. After his transformation, he looked at her once and imprinted.

Leah Clearwater

Leah Clearwater is the only female werewolf in the history of the Quileute tribe. She transforms into a werewolf during the events of New Moon, around the same time as her brother, Seth. This transformation is believed to be what caused the heart attack and death of their father, Harry.

She dated Sam Uley for years, until her cousin Emily came to visit and Sam imprinted on her. Sam thus left Leah for Emily. She believes that Sam betrayed her, but she still longs for him. Leah is thus very bitter and cynical, and constantly antagonizes the pack by thinking about things that the other pack members want to avoid dwelling on, such as Embry's parentage. She also likes to antagonize Jacob by bringing up the fact that Bella is marrying a vampire and will shortly become one, when it is clear that Jacob is still in love with Bella.

In Breaking Dawn, Leah joins Jacob's pack with the intentions of breaking free of Sam since she is still heartbroken. She shares with Jacob several beliefs and insecurities that she has, such as why Sam imprinted on Emily, her regrets that she might be menopausal, and her inability to be of higher rank because of her gender. As she spends more time in Jacob's pack she makes notable changes in her attitude and personality, and expresses that she is happy and therefore isn't as troubling and negative. Later in the book it is shown that Jacob and Leah's feelings towards each other have changed to a trusted comradeship, in which she stands up for him, protects him, and becomes his second-in-command. She is acknowledged as being physically attractive by Jacob, and Bella even calls her beautiful. As a wolf, she is smaller than the others, light gray, and the fastest of either pack.

Seth Clearwater

Seth Clearwater is Leah's younger brother and a member of the La Push pack. He has sandy brown-colored fur. He transforms into a werewolf during New Moon, around the same time as his sister, Leah. In New Moon and Eclipse he is wants to be like Jacob Black, and is said to remind Bella of a younger Jacob. During the newborn attack in Eclipse, Seth stays with Bella and Edward, due to his young age of only fifteen, to act as a connection to the pack. When Victoria and Riley appear, Seth fights and destroys Riley with Edward's help.

In Breaking Dawn, he is friends with Edward, and attends his and Bella's wedding. Seth is a main character in Breaking Dawn due to his friendship with Edward and switching packs. He is initially the only werewolf to feel completely comfortable being around the Cullen family. He also has, according to Edward, very honest and pure thoughts, something that endears him to the Cullens, and Edward in particular. After Jacob forms his own pack, Seth quickly follows. For most of Breaking Dawn Seth is Jacob's second-in-command, until he is replaced by Leah at the end of the novel.

Colin and Brady

Collin and Brady are two of the youngest wolves in the pack. They are said to have phased at the age of 13, and they are apart of Sam Uley's pack.

Other Werewolves

There are six more wolves presented at the end of Breaking Dawn. They are unknown wolves but are believed to be very young because of their oversized paws. The reason for their transformations into werewolves is because of the vampire witnesses at the Cullen's during this novel.
