[edit] Alec (Volturi)

Alec is one of the members of the Volturi, and brother to Jane. He is described as "[a] pale boy...his hair was darker than janes, and his lips were not as full, but he was just as lovely." (NM pg.464) Alec and Jane are probably about 400 years old, since it is implied that they became vampires during the age of witch trials, which in Europe started in the mid-1400's and lasted through the early 1700's. (earlier than America's witch hunts; 1690's). the volturi had theyre eyes on him and and jane when they were human as potential people to change, but were waiting unltil they were older to change them. when frightened humans threatened to burn the twins at the stake, aro was forsed to change them while they were still young. alec and his sister jane are one of the volturi's most valued guards.

Abilitiy

Alec's ability is the "antidote" to Jane; he cuts off all of a persons senses so they are deaf,blind,and numb to any feeling if he wants to, but it is harmless when near bellas shield. When he realizes this, he glares murderously at the other vampires, unlike his sister who screams with rage. (BD 575-6). Unlike Jane however, Alec can affect many people at once, making him a great defensive power for the Volturi. While Jane's gift is quick and piercing, Alec's is slow and creeping: "A strange clear haze was oozing across the snow, nearly invisible against the white. It reminded me of a mirage--a slight warping of a view, a hint of shimmer...it had a dense, sweet, cloying flavor. It made me remember dimly the numbness of Novacain on my tongue." (BD 727-8). It can also be seen, since both Bella and Benjamin could see it approaching.
